Tabuk City, Kalinga – As the province commemorates its 27th Founding Anniversary this February 14, the Department of Trade and Industry-Kalinga launched ‘Kalinga Treasures Fair 2022’ to showcase local products.

Provincial Director Renie Ramos of DTI-Kalinga, in his message, stressed that the trade fair likewise aims to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) recover from the adverse effect brought about by the pandemic.

Ramos stated that MSMEs have lost income with the closure of establishments in 2020 and he is delighted to witness that they are now gradually recovering from their loss.

“We are very happy ta at long last, makita tayo metten nga agsubsubli ti development ti ekonomiya and at the same time ket makatulong kadagitoy MSMEs,” said the provincial director.

He related that 46 MSMEs were able to generate a total of P4.3 million during the Christmas Bonanza Fair of Chamber of Kalinga Producers Inc. (CKAPI) which was launched in December 2021.

This development, he underscored, would not be have been made possible without the support of the provincial government headed by Governor Ferdinand Tubban and the national agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Ramos hopes for continued improvement of the COVID-19 status of the province to give way for the reopening of more establishments.

The provincial director reminded the public to adhere to minimum public health standards such as wearing of facemask and social distancing.

Kalinga Treasures Fair 2022 will run until February 27, 2022.
