Father and Son drug duo falls in Lasam buy-bust; P.6M of suspected Shabu seized

LASAM, Cagayan — A father and son, both tagged by police as high-value drug personalities, were arrested after allegedly selling and possessing more than ₱621,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Lasam, Cagayan on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The suspects were identified by the Cagayan police as aliases “Vin,” 43, and “JM,” 20, both farmers and residents of Lasam.

Police said the two were targeted in a buy-bust operation in which they allegedly sold 0.20 gram of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer, leading to their immediate arrest.

A subsequent body search allegedly yielded an additional 91.21 grams of suspected shabu from the suspects.

The total seized drugs were valued at approximately ₱621,588 based on the reported standard drug price.

Police also confiscated the buy-bust and boodle money, a dark pouch, identification cards, Android mobile phones and a motorcycle.

All seized items were marked and inventoried at the scene before being brought to the Lasam Police Station for documentation, investigation and proper disposition.

Authorities are preparing charges against the two suspects for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Police Provincial Director PCol. Mardito Anguluan urged illegal drug users and dealers to abandon the illegal trade and avoid jeopardizing their future and their families.

“Sa mga patuloy na kumakapit sa illegal drugs, huwag ninyong sirain ang inyong buhay at kinabukasan ng inyong pamilya. Magbago habang may pagkakataon pa, dahil hindi namin titigilan ang laban kontra ilegal na droga at sa huli, batas ang mananaig,” Anguluan said.

He assured the public that the Cagayan police will continue to sustain and strengthen its campaign against illegal drugs across the province.
