Father shot son over argument on feeding their livestock

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

Cagayan, Philippines – An elderly man in Tuao, Cagayan shot his own son, following a heated argument on feeding their livestock on July 3.

Cagayan Police Provincial Office reported that Aldo, a 62-year-old widower and laborer, scolded his son Dante, 25, for feeding their livestock because he already fed them.

The discussion between the father and son developed into a violent altercation that infuriated the father. This became enough reason for him to grab his home made gun and shot his son, hitting him on the neck.

Investigation said Dante fell on the floor after getting shot and was left bleeding by his father who fled the incident.

Responders who heard the gunshot saw Dante and rushed him to Nuestra Señora De Piat District Hospital and was later referred to the Divine Mercy Wellness Center.

Meantime, the suspect was arrested after the police and the barangay officials conducted a hot pursuit operation. The Homemade Cal. 45 pistol with a live ammunition used in the crime was also confiscated.

He was brought to Tuao Police Station where appropriate charges are being prepared.
