Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Tabuk City Police Station recently deployed a team of policewomen at some checkpoints for the first time. As recalled, checkpoints in the city are usually being manned by male police officers.

Police Lieutenant Jean Pacia, the Chief of Community/Affairs Development of Tabuk City Police Station, narrated that among the activities during the observance of women’s month this year is the assignment of female police to man checkpoints in Tabuk.

“We were deployed to show the public that policewomen are capable of doing what our male counterparts usually do. Also, policewomen can help maintain order and traffic discipline,” she said.

Pacia added that there is no difference between the male and female police manning checkpoints since women cops are also bound to do their duty to serve the public.

“We are here to do our duty and we will show the public that we are no different from our male counterparts,” she said.

Based on their data, the women cops recorded 17 individuals who were given citation tickets for violating traffic rules from March 10 to March 14.

From the said number, 10 were caught driving without a driver’s license; 6 for no helmet; and one for no Office Receipt/Certificate of Registration.

Pacia said that manning checkpoints will now be among the regular duties of female cops in the city.
