Fire destroys generator facility in Baguio; estimated damages reached ₱10M

Baguio City, Philippines – A structure housing generator units in Baguio City was gutted by fire on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, resulting in an estimated ₱10 million in damage.


According to the Baguio City Public Information Office (CPIO), the structural fire occurred along Maya Street, Dizon Subdivision, and was reported to the Smart City Command Center (911) at 12:02 p.m.


Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Baguio Fire Marshal FSupt. Mark Anthony Dangatan reported to the CPIO that fire personnel were immediately dispatched to respond to the incident upon notification.


The blaze was placed under control at around 12:37 p.m., approximately 35 minutes after the alarm, and was officially declared fire out at 12:52 p.m.


Fire suppression efforts involved three fire trucks manned by ten BFP personnel, a tanker truck with two crew members, additional fire units, and an ambulance to ensure public safety.


Meanwhile, in a video taken by DZWT 540 AM – News & Information, stacked generator units inside the structure were seen to be totally damaged. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported during the incident.


As of this writing, authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the exact amount of damage incurred.


Since the start of 2026, several fire incidents have already been recorded in Baguio City. On January 14, a fire broke out at the DPWH–Cordillera Regional Office in Engineer’s Hill.


According to reports, the fire originated in the financial management records room of the DPWH regional office, affecting an area of approximately one square meter.


Earlier, on January 12, a residential house located at Block 4, East Quirino Hill was also destroyed by fire, affecting one family.
