First female yKalinga to be appointed Assistant Secretary in nat’l government named


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Another yKalinga is set to lead one of the national government agencies after being named assistant secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry.

 

Grace Falgui-Baluyan who has been working as the Regional Director of DTI Region 1 since July 2019 was promoted to assistant secretary by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This was announced by the Presidential Communications Office on April 22, 2024.

 

Having been appointed to the said position, Baluyan marked a milestone for being the first woman from Kalinga to hold an assistant secretary post in the national government.

 

The new asec’s humble beginnings include teaching at her alumna, Tabuk City National High School, before joining DTI-Kalinga as Trade and Industry Development Analyst. She continued to ascend the career ladder and became the regional director of DTI in the Ilocos region for nearly four years prior to her designation as an assistant secretary.

 

DTI Region 1 conveyed their felicitations to their head writing, “We are beaming with pride here at DTI Regional Office 1! Congratulations, Asec. Grace Falgui-Baluyan!”

 

Joining Baluyan as a new appointee for the DTI is Raymond Panhon who was promoted to Director IV.
