Flora, Apayao – The Municipal Local Government Unit of Flora made history as it received for the first time the Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants (PhALGA) Excellence Award.

The award is bestowed to local government units that demonstrated financial stewardship and commitment to transparency and fiscal accountability, according to PhALGA President Smith Valdez.

Flora LGU proudly shared that they obtained the “unmodified or unqualified opinion”, which is the highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (COA).

Receiving the highest audit rating means that the submitted financial statements subject to evaluation were compliant with the applicable financial reporting framework.

Getting the award during the 19th PhALGA Annual National Conference at the Camp John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio City on behalf of the local government unit is Municipal Accountant Mrs. Benalyn De Jesus-Pascua.

During the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, May 20, Mayor Rodolfo Juan lauded the collaborative efforts of the municipal accounting office and the whole local government unit in working with the necessary requirements to achieve said feat.

According to the mayor, obtaining said award manifested the local government unit’s commitment to ensuring honest and transparent governance.
