Luna, Apayao – The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Apayao (SDA) has formally turned over land titles to four public elementary schools as of June 2026, strengthening legal ownership of school sites and ensuring the long-term protection of educational properties in the province.

The turnover was conducted through two separate ceremonies held on June 2 and June 4, 2026. Karagawan Elementary School in Kabugao received its land title on June 2, while Puguin Elementary School and Ripang Elementary School in Conner, along with San Mariano Elementary School in Sta. Marcela, received their titles on June 4.

According to the DepEd-SDA Legal Unit, the initiative is part of its continuing efforts to secure school properties by providing educational institutions with legally documented ownership of their land. The move is expected to support long-term development plans, infrastructure projects, and the uninterrupted delivery of basic education services.

Officials emphasized that securing land titles not only protects schools from potential land disputes but also reinforces their permanence and stability as centers of learning within their respective communities.

The turnover forms part of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) nationwide school site titling program, under which 660 land titles for public school sites are being issued this year. As of March 6, 2026, a total of 44,178 school sites across the country remain under monitoring for titling and related land documentation.

With the formal turnover completed, DepEd Apayao reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing similar initiatives to secure remaining untitled school properties in the province and further strengthen educational infrastructure for future generations.
