While at the creek, Jacob and Art recounted that Butch dived into the water and tried to swim but was quickly taken away by the strong current, which led to his drowning.

Startled, the two immediately sought help from nearby residents, who came and managed to recover Butch’s body from the water.

The 12-year-old was quickly transported to the Solana Rural Health Unit before being transferred to a private hospital in Tuguegarao City, where the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

Solana PNP Chief Banan confirmed that the incident was not related to any typhoon or weather disturbance as the weather condition when the incident happened was ‘generally normal’.
