TANUDAN, Kalinga — Kalinga's sporting community has something exciting to look forward to as the Municipality of Tanudan prepares to host the 2027 Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet, marking the first time the municipality will stage the province's biggest annual sporting event.

Every year, the Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet brings together hundreds of student-athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters from across the province as they compete for the chance to represent Kalinga in the Cordillera Regional Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet.

On July 30, the Tanudan Municipal Government, led by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, met with officials of the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU), the Department of Education (DepEd) Kalinga, and other partner agencies to discuss preparations for next year's Kalinga Sports Festival.

A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the results of the Comprehensive School Facility Inspection and Assessment conducted by the Municipal Technical Working Group.

The assessment evaluated billeting facilities, competition venues, training areas, and support service facilities, and concluded that Tanudan has the strategic location and institutional capability to host the prestigious sporting event.

The assessment also identified areas that require immediate improvement, including water supply systems, sanitation and hygiene facilities, electrical installations, safety and security measures, sports infrastructure, communication systems, and environmental management.

Taking note of these findings, Mayor Dagadag assured that the Municipal Government, in partnership with the Kalinga PLGU, DepEd Kalinga, barangay local government units, and other stakeholders, will work together to implement an action plan aimed at addressing all identified gaps by November 2026.

For Dagadag, hosting the Provincial Meet is more than preparing venues—it is an opportunity to showcase Tanudan's beauty, hospitality, and readiness to welcome thousands of visitors from across Kalinga.

“It is about time nga ipakita tayo iti Tanudan kadagiti athleta, coaches, parents, and other stakeholders nga nagapu kadagiti naduma-duma nga ili ditoy Kalinga. We already took note kadagitoy gaps nga need tayo pay i-address ket dagitoy iti i-trabaho tayo tapnu maiready tayo hundred percent iti ili tayo para daytoy panag-host tayo iti Provincial Meet next year,” Dagadag said.

With preparations now underway, anticipation is already building as Tanudan readies itself to welcome the province's finest young athletes for what is expected to be a memorable edition of the Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet.
