Giant sunflower cake promoting flower industry unveiled in Baguio

Baguio City, Philippines - As a way of promoting the sunflower industry of Benguet and Baguio, local farmers and bakers from the province and the city unveiled their giant sunflower cake on Monday, March 4, 2024.

 

The activity was held at the Skyland Garden and Hotel in Irisan, Baguio City, which is among the newest tourism attractions in the area.

 

The said activity aimed to help the local farmers and Micro Small Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) promote their flower products.


Behind the creation of the giant cake were bakers from Dar Jane’s Garden, Ark Bakes with the Coffee Place, and Skyland Garden and Hotel.

 

In her interview with the Philippine Information Agency - Cordillera, Ark Bakes Head Baker Angelika Inso relayed that the cake was made of edible sunflower seeds, leaves, and extracted oil as its main ingredients. It was also paired with locally brewed coffee from the Coffee Place, which could serve 500 to 600 servings.

 

Also present to support the activity were representatives from the Department of Tourism - Cordillera and the Department of Trade and Industry - Baguio and Benguet offices.
