La Trinidad, Benguet – A giant vegetable salad with 400 kilos of vegetables was served free to hundreds of residents in La Trinidad, Benguet, during the fourth edition of the Highland Vegetable Industry Week at the Municipal Gym on Friday, August 05, 2022.

The event, dubbed as the Mini Highland Vegetable Salad Toss and Serving, is the highlight of the culmination program of the long-week celebration.

The served tossed salad contained locally grown vegetables, including 140 kilos of romaine lettuce, 100 kilos of cucumber, 80 kilos of carrots, 50 kilos of sugar beets, and 30 kilos of tomatoes.

All the vegetables used were said to have been donated by the League of Associations at the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post which organized the event, in partnership with the municipal government, the truckers, and the local business sector.

The massive vegetable salad is a way of celebrating the stable vegetable production of the municipality known as a major producer of beans, carrots, cabbages, lettuce, and cauliflower.

This town supplies markets in the Luzon provinces. Municipal Agriculturist Nida Organo added the event was staged to recognize the perseverance and hard work of local farmers.
