Gov. Edduba and Vice Gov. Odiem pledge P.2M to support initial operations of the Kalinga weaving Center

Mabilong, Lubuagan - The Kalinga Weaving Center is set receive an additional P200,000 in funding through the support of Governor James S. Edduba and Vice Governor Dave Odiem, further strengthening the efforts to preserve and promote traditional Kalinga weaving.


The iMabilong weavers welcomed the funding boost, hoping that it will help improve their workspaces, allow for more training programs for younger generations, and expand the reach of Kalinga products to broader markets.


The announcement of support was made during the governor’s message in the inauguration and turn-over of the center on October 9, 2025 at Belalao Hills, Brngy. Mabilong Lubuagan—the "Weaving Village" of Kalinga.

The P200,000 extra funding shall be among the provincial government's larger cultural development initiatives while assisting local businesses to aid them improve production capacities, training weavers, and modernizing tools and supplies necessary to maintain the weaving industry.


As the first government-funded weaving center in the Cordillera, the Kalinga Weaving Center is set to become a symbol of cultural pride, promoting and preserving traditional Kalinga weaving while boosting local economies.
