Gov. Edduba re-elected, thankful for people’s trust and support

Tabuk City, Kalinga - iKalingas again placed their trust in Governor James Sagmayao Edduba, re-electing him as the father of the province for a second term.  

 

With over 75,000 votes, Edduba’s victory reflects the province’s confidence in his steady leadership and clear vision for progress with his tagline “ LUMIN-AWA Kalinga”.  

 

The governor’s victory was proclaimed officially on Tuesday, May 13, by the Provincial Board of Canvassers, led by COMELEC-Kalinga Election Supervisor Atty. Ricardo Lampac, along with Atty. Percival Pekas and Atty. May Frances Calsiyao. The proclamation was done at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Conference Hall in Bulanao, Tabuk City, witnessed by his supporters, friends, and family. 

 

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Edduba took the chance to thank the people of Kalinga for their continued trust despite the many misinformation published against him by anonymous accounts on social media, like “kalinga page.” 

 

“Agyamanak launay kakailyan ti agtultuloy nga talek yo kanyak. Uray nu  nagado nga paninira nga inbato da kanyak, ket haan kayo nagpaal-lilaw.LUMIN-AWA Kalinga,” he said.  

 

Joining Edduba in leading the province is Atty. Dave Odiem, who won the vice governor seat with a total of 44,033 votes. Odiem will now preside over the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) in guiding the legislative direction of Kalinga.  

 

Completing the provincial leadership are the newly elected SP members who will represent district 1 and district 2 of the province.  

 

SP members for district 1 were Roger Saga-oc with 28,382 votes, Romeo Saclag with 26,347 votes, Harley Duguiang with 26,152 votes, and Emilio Kitongan with 23,832 votes.  As for district 2, the SP members were Camilo Lamawin Jr. with 45,047 votes; Glenn Amla, 44,515 votes; Chester Alunday, 44,389 votes; Chris Donaal, 41,499 votes; Aldredo Dangani, 38,929 votes; and Bernard Glenn Dao-as with 38,874 votes.  

 

These officials will help shape policies and pass local ordinances that impact education, infrastructure, health, peace and order, and livelihood programs across the province.  

 

The local elections in Kalinga recorded a strong voter turnout of 88.65%, with 140,554 out of 158,555 registered voters casting their ballots. District 1 saw a 90% turnout, while District 2 followed with 87.44%.
