Tabuk City, Kalinga – Governor Ferdinand Tubban praised Kalinga State University for its monumental growth, citing how it progressed from being a vocational college in the 1970s into a center of education for the whole Province of Kalinga, producing various professionals.

During the 29th Foundation Day and 6th University Charter Day of KSU this February 9, Tubban sent his virtual message emphasizing the great role of a university in the community and its great force in creating progress and development.

Tubban, a believer in education as the force behind progress, likewise suggested the importance of working together for the furtherance of quality and globally competitive graduates.

HERE IS THE FULL MESSAGE OF THE GOVERNOR

"The role of a university in a community is a great one. The bigger it gets, the better it is for the wider population of the province.

In 1971, Kalinga State University started as Kalinga Community College of Trade and Industry with very few courses. KCCTI then was purely vocational. Then, in 1978, it became Kalinga Community College, dropping off the trade and industry after new courses had been offered. Then, I remember back in 1986, sometime in January, KCC merged with two high schools to become Kalinga-Apayao State College, although it was only in October 1992 that KASC became operational. In 1993, it was when another high school was integrated into KASC. That was when the birth of the university was foretold like a prophecy waiting to be fulfilled…

Fast forward… On December 15, 2015, KASC became a university under R.A. 7722.

Look at you now!

After 29 years… Who would have thought that a vocational college would rise to become the center of excellence… now producing engineers, criminologists, agriculturists, medical practitioners, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and many other much-needed professions.

Kalinga State University… you have grown and you have evolved into the center of education for the whole province. You have become the place of advanced learning, a symbol of freedom and hope. AND… You have truly become the molder of the next generation of workers and leaders, not only of Kalinga but of other places…

I have always believed that education is the answer to almost all problems and the main force behind progress and development.

While we embrace the challenges of living in the new normal, I, Ferdinand Baac Tubban, your governor, shall continue to work with you and partner with you, " For a Better Today and For a Brighter Tomorrow".

I believe Kalinga State University will sustain its culture of quality services and global standards as it continues its journey to become a top university in the country.

Happy 29th founding anniversary and 6th Charter Day. Congratulations to all its founders, workers, and all those who have come together to make a university that molds nation builders.

Your success is the success of Kalinga and all its people. Matatago kayo losan!"
