Grade 12 triathlete from Baguio clinches silver in 2024 National Age Group tourney

Baguio City, Philippines – Years of hard work and discipline are definitely paying off for a Grade 12 athlete in Baguio City after securing second place in the recently concluded National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) 2024 in Zambales.

The NAGT is a competition that features the best triathletes from different age groups in the Philippines. Participants compete in Super Sprint Distance (500m swim-10km bike-2.5km run), Sprint Distance (750m swim-20km bike-5km run), Standard Distance Individual and Team Relay (1.5km swim-40km bike-10km run), and Super Trikids events.

The tournament serves as a qualifying race for the 2025 Thailand Southeast Asian Games.

Among the participants and medalists in this year’s NAGT, held on January 27 – 28, is Grade 12 student Dhana Victoria Seda of Christian Legacy Academy in Baguio City.

Seda competed in the sprint age group category where she bested her counterparts and won second place in the 7.5-kilometer swim, the 20-kilometer bike ride, and the 5-kilometer run.

The Grade 12 athlete has been competing in sports and training herself since she was 9 years old, but this is her first-ever triathlon race.

Recently, the Baguio City local government passed a resolution commending Seda’s win in the NAGT. The city legislators noted that the young athlete’s feat has once again brought pride to the city and its athletic community.
