Isabela, Philippines – The armed encounter between the military and suspected rebels continues in Isabela on Monday, this time in another town.

A day after the gun battle between the government troops and the New People’s Army guerrillas in Jones, Isabela, another armed encounter between the two groups erupted in San Mariano of the same province this April 21.

The exchange of fire happened in Barangay Tappa during a hot pursuit operation, the 5th Infantry Division announced on Monday noon.

“Government troops clashed with communist terrorist remnants in Brgy. Tappa, San Mariano, Isabela, during a hot pursuit operation. The 5th Infantry Division vows to sustain its campaign against insurgency to ensure the safety of local communities,” the division informed.

This is a developing story.
