Health Station in Tanudan gets rehabilitation to upgrade quality health service

Updated: Oct 22, 2021

Tanudan, Kalinga – Taloctoc Barangay Health Station (BHS) in Tanudan, which has been around for approximately 15 years, underwent repair and renovation to continue providing accessible and better quality health service to the people.

Taloctoc BHS was said to have been built through the Integrated Community Health Services Projects(ICHSP) in early 2000, and that it is the only facility in Tanudan which passed the assessment of the Department of Health.

With this, it was granted P500,000 funding for rehabilitation this year.

Architect Patricia Dantic explained that the building needed repair, describing that when they first visited the place for validation, they saw the old BHS’ roof dilapidated. It needed immediate renovation.

Dantic added that during the rehabilitation process of the said building, they had to replace the roof components and upgrade its materials. She also said that the trademark of health facilities under the ICHSP is the old windows or jalousie and since these types of windows are no longer advisable, they changed them into sliding ones.

“Kasi madali lang siyang buksan, ngayon pagka kunwari ‘yung mga equipment natin sa BHS madali lang nakawin if ever, kaya pinalitan namin ng sliding windows to modernize na rin ‘yung look ng BHS,” she explained.

Taloctoc BHS was also repainted and that its electrical components were repaired.

The rehabilitation of the Taloctoc Barangay Health Station started in July this year and was finished this September. However, it is yet to undergo a final inspection. Its earlier schedule was postponed due to the surge of Covid-19 cases in Kalinga.

Meanwhile, Tanudan Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag expressed his gratitude to the Department of Health for allotting a fund to the rehabilitation of the BHS in Taloctoc which he said will be of great help to the community especially in this time of pandemic where hospitals experience full capacity or lockdowns due to Covid-19.

“Dakkel a tulong daytoy iti taga Taloctoc ta nu adda agsakit ket dita pay maiyapan tapnu ti kasta ket maagasan or i-first aid da pay. Nu kaya iti BHS nga agasan ti pasyente ket no need nga i-refer da kadagiti hospitals. Isu agpas-pasalamat tayo unay iti DOH iti panagpondo da ditoy rehabilitation iti BHS tayo idiay Taloctoc,” he said.
