Ifugao students WIN multiple awards in 16th National Food Showdown

Lagawe, Ifugao – The culinary talents of Ifugao students shone on the national stage as they brought home multiple medals and accolades at the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) 16th National Food Showdown, held from October 9 to 11, 2025, in Baguio City.

 

The competition, which took place as part of the 18th Annual Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Month, brought together students and professionals from across the country to showcase their culinary skills and creativity in the hospitality and tourism sector.

 

Students from the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) program of Ifugao State University – Lagawe Campus bagged numerous medals in different categories.

 

In the Travel and Tours category, Precious Hangdaan and Chan Wilbert Immotna earned a silver medal. Behind their achievement was their coach, Joy Habbiling, whose mentorship and steadfast encouragement were vital to their success.

 

Aside from the silver medalists, several other BSHM students also earned bronze medals in various categories.

 

According to the Lagawe Municipal Information Office (MIO), these students include Carina Joy Tuguinay, Louenzon Jan Eheng, and Vianee Cshantelle Viloria, under Coach Corine Joy Tapo; Nickson Lubingan and Earl Xyville Atolba, coached by Blenign Cacliong, who also ranked No. 1 overall; Ryan Jay Borja and Marie Mar Dalallo, coached by Cyrine Fae Pangan; Lester Jr. Cadalig, coached by Vicente Kalaw; and Roxanne Naboye, coached by Waylon Ralph Aclibon.

 

In addition to the medalists, several students received Diploma Awards: Raven Jeru Tundagui, coached by Vicente Kalaw; Jing-Jing Kimayong, coached by Jenifer Pinkihan; Ashley Kay Pagadut, Eleazar Jobann Depollo, and Carina Joy Tuguinay, coached by Niccolo Louis Lorig; Reigner Lokkat, also under Coach Lorig; and KC Damian Angawa, Suaralee Bumolyad, and Renimah Diane Eduarte, coached by Cyrine Fae Pangan.

 

According to the Lagawe MIO, Ifugao State University (IFSU) emphasized that the students’ achievements are a result of strong collaboration between the institution, its faculty coaches, and the continued support of local leaders who believe in the capabilities of IFSU students to excel at the national level.
