Kalinga and Apayao Reunion: Apayao Vice-Governor Bulut-Cunan heads Apayao Delegation joining Kalinga’s celebration of 31st Founding Anniv. And 7th Bodong Fest

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Showing their continuing solidarity with their sister province, Apayao officials attended the 31st Founding Anniversary celebration of Kalinga at the Kalinga Sports Complex on February 14, participating in events such as the Laga Fashion Show.

 

Kalinga and Apayao once functioned as a single province until their formal separation on February 14, 1995, through the passage of Republic Act No. 7878, authored by the late Elias K. Bulut, Sr..

 

Led by Vice Governor Kyle Mariah Chelsea S. Bulut-Cunan, the Apayao officials attended the formal program on February 14 to celebrate with the iKalingas. They did not just grace the ceremony – they also walked down the Laga runway on the same day to demonstrate their support for Kalinga’s weaving industry.

 

Kalinga Governor James Edduba expressed his appreciation to the local leaders of Apayao for traveling to Tabuk City to commemorate Kalinga’s founding anniversary, calling the gathering a reunion of Kalinga-Apayao.

 

“Thirty-one years ago, we were separated as a province, tatta ket daytoy iti reunion tayo tatta. We were talking with the Vice Governor so that next time, during the next celebration of our founding anniversary, ta aggiddan met. We were telling them nga nu 10–14 kuma isu iti Kalinga and then 14–18 isu kuma iti Apayao tapnu we will dedicate one day nga mapan tayo idiay Apayao, dagiay Apayao met iti umay kanya tayo, tapnu tinawen adda iti reunion tayo as a province. Hopefully, we can do that,” he said.
