Updated: Jun 24, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The provincial government of Kalinga is set to enter into a memorandum of agreement with Child Protection Network Foundation, Inc., a licensed non-government organization with expertise on the prevention and treatment of children who were sexually abused to ensure that Ykalinga children have the protection they need.

According to the data of KPPO, there have been 5 rape cases recorded in Kalinga during the first quarter of 2021. This is 3 cases higher as compared to the ones reported on the same period in 2020. There also other cases of maltreatment and a number of juvenile delinquency.

It is hoped that the MOA will be able to equip workers with skills and knowledge which are useful in helping reduce the number of cases and in halting impending similar events.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan granted the Executive Department to enter into a MOA through resolution No. 2021-100 which was adopted last June 15 during the Council’s 58th regular session.

In said MOA, the main aim focuses on the integration of medical diagnostics, forensic, therapeutic and preventive responses to abused children through a training program on women and children protection.

With the partnership, it shall make possible access to necessary health care and psychosocial services as well as the reduction if not the prevention of the victim being re-traumatized. Further, family orientation and consultation shall be provided in a bid to reform erring family and put a stop to abuse that emanates from home.
