Tabuk City, Kalinga – Though unable to register the target number of registrants for the Step 2 registration, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Kalinga registered 65.4% of their target and has the 3rd highest number of registrations among provinces in the Cordillera.

PSA Kalinga was tasked to register biometric data of 62,550 individuals in the province from January-June this year.

PSA – Kalinga has done satellite registrations for said target, visiting various municipalities in the province.

The province which recorded the highest number of registrants is Apayao getting 89.6% of the aimed 27,800 followed by Benguet registering 71.6 % of its 563,255 target. For other provinces, Abra successfully logged 60.1% of the targeted 90,350, Mountain Province – 56.1 % of 41,700, and Ifugao – 44.5% of 62,550.

As set, PSA’s provincial offices in the Cordillera should be able to register 848,205 people in the first semester of the year for the Step 2 registration, but they were only able to log a total of 574,823. These make up 67.8 percent of PSA’s January - June target in the region.

The target given, according to PSA, was distributed to the six provinces in proportion to their total population based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing.

What’s next after the getting of biometrics data?

After the step 2 registration, the captured biometrics will be sent to the PRO or the central server, which will be linked later on to their demographic data for validation.

After validation, the data will be sent to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for the printing of the IDs. Philpost is in charge of the distribution of the IDs.
