Tabuk  City, Kalinga – PBGen. Primitivo Bayongan Jr., the boy who had to do labor work at a young age in Tabuk City, Kalinga, is now a star-ranking police officer.

Bayongan is one of the 28 police officials who were promoted to brigadier general, the fourth top spot in the PNP ranks, on April 2 at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

The newly-promoted iKalinga general who is currently the Chief of the Legislative Affairs Center of the PNP National Headquarters is on top of his game, but he had his humble beginnings.

As recounted by his sister on Facebook, Bayongan realized the hardships of life at an early age as he had to work on the farm to support himself and his needs. Among the works he had to do included picking farm produce and carrying them on his back while trudging through knee-deep mud to bring the crops to the town where he sold them.

To have additional income, Bayongan also panned for gold in Magnao.

All of these hardships the new brigadier general faced at a young age, as described by his sister, molded him into this resilient and humble official who has a heart for the common people.

With Bayongan reaping the fruits of his decades-long service and hard work, he has set an example, particularly to the younger generation, that perseverance is among the key factors to achieving greater heights.
