Kalinga receives P.3M from POPCOM-CAR for family planning programs

Tabuk City, Kalinga—With the intention to ensure universal access to responsible parenthood and family planning especially among the marginalized sectors, the local government of Kalinga on June 28, 2021, forged a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Commission on Population and Development-Cordillera.


With this development, the provincial LGU received from the agency the amount of P300,000. Said amount will be utilized in implementing Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) programs in the province.

With the existence of the agreement, the provincial government is directed to put the local population office as the lead institutional coordinator and implementer of strategies and activities for the National Program on Population and Family Planning (NPPFP) and to develop, approve, implement and monitor an evidence-based and comprehensive Annual Work and Financial Plan (AWFP) to support localization of NPPFP within the LGU.


Additionally, the provincial government is also tasked to organize and mobilize local coordinative bodies, to implement the RPRH/NPPFP and design, to adopt innovative strategies, to improve demand generation and service delivery for NPPFP, and to include but not limit to RPFP, adolescent pregnancy, and population development integration.

On the of POPCOM-CAR, it shall assist the provincial LGU through the provision of technical assistance, including technical inputs and tools to effectively implement its roles and strategies.


Provincial Governor Ferdinand Tubban then expressed gratitude to POPCOM-Cordillera for bringing the program to the province. He said this could result in a healthier, more profitable, and capacitated Kalinga populace.
