Tabuk City, Kalinga – This year’s edition of the Laga Fashion Show is set to be more exciting, as public officials from across Kalinga will take to the runway during the 7th Kalinga Bodong Festival and the 31st Kalinga Founding Anniversary on February 14.

The Laga Fashion Show has long been one of the highlights of the annual Kalinga festivities, serving as a platform for local weavers and designers to showcase their creativity and craftsmanship. The event also aims to support and strengthen the Kalinga weaving industry.

While it is a regular feature of the Kalinga Bodong Festival, this year’s runway marks a milestone, as it will be the first time public officials will participate as models. Among those set to join are Congresswoman Caroline Agayao, Governor James Edduba, Vice Governor Dave Odiem, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, as well as city and municipal mayors across Kalinga.

Kalinga Tourism Supervising Operations Officer Lorraine Ngao-i told GURU Press Cordillera that Governor Edduba encouraged officials to take part, saying, “para ma-support talaga ang Laga industry, sila daw dapat ang mag-lead.”

The participating officials will wear designs by Joon Ascano, featuring contemporary interpretations of Kalinga weaving. The cost of the attire will be personally shouldered by the officials.

Meanwhile, the historic event will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Kalinga Sports Center.
