Kalinga, only province in Cordillera not affected by Typhoon Betty


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga is the only province in the Cordillera region with no reported damage during the onslaught of Typhoon Betty.


In its latest report, the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Cordillera said that Betty affected 28,639 individuals or 7,894 families in the region.


Most of those affected are in Abra with 20,194 total individuals; Benguet with 8,016; Mt. Province with 211; Baguio City with 159; Apayao with 46; and Ifugao with 12 individuals.


Of those, 22 families in Mt. Province sought shelter in evacuation centers, while 87 families stayed with their relatives or friends.


Only one from Batan, Kabayan, Benguet was reportedly injured due to a fallen tree. No death or missing person was recorded.


Some 44 houses were partially damaged, and one in Mt. Province was totally wrecked.


DSWD- Cordillera Field Office has extended almost P900,000 worth of assistance as of 6 a.m. of today, June 02, 2023.
