Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) is ready to respond and deal with possible disasters that may occur with the onset of the rainy and typhoon season.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) had declared the start of rainy season in the country this June 4.

When asked as to their preparations, PDRRMC chief Jolanta Baac said that when it comes to preparedness, the department is ready for any disasters since then.

She added that they have ensured that they have sufficient stockpile of food and enough manpower to respond, should calamities such as typhoons come.

“Adda dagita naka-stockpile kami as to food, adda ditan. As to manpower, adda ditan,” she said.

Baac added that while humans do their part in preparations, it is a must to seek the Creator’s protection saying, “uray fully prepared ka met, nu awan kenka iti prayers, haan mo dakamaten ni Apo Diyos, awan iti mangmangyari latta. It is always in God’s hand that we are saved, diay lang iti number one,” she expressed.

The Kalinga PDRRMC is continuously monitoring the City and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council for updates in their area.

So far, the Philippines had four tropical cyclones this year, they are Severe Tropical Storm Auring in February; Typhoon Bising in April; Tropical Storm Crising in May; and Tropical Storm Dante in late May to early June.
