Kalinga PLGU is most outstanding implementer of rural development project in North Luzon

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The provincial government of Kalinga has been recognized nationally for its outstanding contribution to the implementation of the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) as the most outstanding implementer of rural development in North Luzon.


PRDP is a project by the national government implemented by the DA, aiming to increase rural incomes and enhance farm and fishery productivity in the country.


After assessing the LGUs in the country in the implementation of said project, the Department of Agriculture found the Kalinga PLGU as the best-implementing province in north Luzon cluster in 2023.


As cited by the Philippine Information Agency - Kalinga, the award recognizes the PLGU’s exemplary performance in project implementation and commitment to social and environmental safeguards.


A plaque of recognition was handed by the agency to Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan during the recently conducted DA-PRDP North Luzon Cluster General Assembly in Olongapo City, Zambales.


Bakilan, in his interview with PIA- Kalinga, shared that at least five PRDP-funded farm-to-market roads (FMRs) costing P954 million were completed in the province last year.


According to him, the PLGU shared 10 percent of the project cost as its counterpart.


Also recognized during the event was the Abra Vegetable Seed Growers Development Cooperative for completing their enterprise sub-project in 2023 - the carabao mango production and marketing.
