Tabuk City, Kalinga - With its exceptional efforts to attain peace and unity, the provincial government of Kalinga was conferred the Regional Gawad Parangal by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Governor James S. Edduba personally received the award during the NTF ELCAC’s 5th anniversary last Monday, December 4, 2023, at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

In his social media post, Edduba expressed gratitude to the province’s partner agencies and communities for their contributions to the implementation of various programs and activities in ELCAC communities.

"Thank you to all of you; without your collective dedication, this award would have never been realized. Luminawa Kalinga!," he stated.

The NTF-ELCAC is the whole-of-nation approach of the government to deal with different terrorist groups towards sustainable and inclusive peace throughout the country.

Kalinga Provincial Public Information Office said the accolade recognizes the province’s outstanding efforts to end local armed conflicts as well as foster sustainable development.

To recall, the PLGU, in partnership with various national line agencies, visited declared ELCAC barangays in the province, wherein information campaigns against terrorism and support for barangay development programs have been initiated.

Other initiatives implemented by the PLGU as support for the program included a range of free healthcare services such as circumcision, random blood sugar tests, haircuts, BP monitoring, and medical check-ups, among others.
