TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Police arrested 45 wanted persons and took 52 loose firearms off the streets in Kalinga during the third quarter of 2026 as the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO) intensified its law-enforcement operations.

The figures were presented by the KPPO during the third-quarter meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council on September 30.

Of the 45 wanted persons arrested from July to September, one was listed among the Cordillera’s regional most wanted persons, while five were provincial-level most wanted persons.

Three others were listed as municipal or city-level most wanted persons, while the remaining 36 were classified as other wanted individuals.

The arrests formed part of the police campaign to locate and apprehend individuals with standing warrants and bring them before the courts to face the charges against them.

Meanwhile, police also recovered 52 loose or illegal firearms during the quarter.

Of the recovered firearms, 45 were surrendered to police, three were confiscated and four were recovered during police operations.

Two cases were filed in court in connection with the confiscated firearms.

The police said the campaign against loose firearms aims to reduce the potential for gun-related violence, prevent the use of firearms in criminal activities and improve public safety.

KPPO also reported 19 operations against illegal logging during the quarter, resulting in the recovery of 3,172.58 board feet of illegally cut lumber with an estimated value of ₱262,371.20.

One person was arrested during the anti-illegal logging operations.

The recovered lumber was turned over to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office for proper disposition.

The KPPO said it will continue operations against wanted persons, loose firearms and illegal logging as part of its mandate to enforce the law and maintain peace and order in Kalinga.
