Kalinga records its highest number of Covid-19 positive cases in a day

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The province, according to a Covid-19 update from the Provincial Local Government Unit of Kalinga today, December 2, has recorded 31 Covid-19 confirmed cases - the highest number ever recorded in a day since the province had its first case in July.


Among these cases include 20 from the Municipality of Tinglayan, 6 from the City of Tabuk, 3 from Rizal and 1 each from the Municipality of Lubuagan and Pasil.


In the report, it said that most patients are close contacts of index cases while others being recorded are with travel history.


Tinglayan’s positive cases, having the most number provided in the data, increased after a series of contact tracing and testing was conducted to the barangays of Upper, Lower and Centro Bangad.


A 15-day lockdown was already implemented in these areas.


Said cases were the ones who were in contact with the 2 Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) recorded as COVID-19 suspects who were later found to be positive of the virus.


In an interview with Tinglayan Sacrament Mayor Gumilab, he said Covid-19 patients in the municipality are all asymptomatic and currently under quarantine.


Other Covid-19 positive patients are also isolated and being managed at their respective temporary treatment facility.


As of this writing, Kalinga Province has already recorded a total of 395 cases, 100 are active cases, 294 have already recovered, and 1 Covid-19 related death.

Governor Ferdinand B.Tubban in a statement reminded the public to strictly observe and follow minimum health and safety protocols.
