Tabuk City, Kalinga-The Office of the Provincial Administrator-Sports Services (OPAD-Sports) guaranteed the availability of fund for athletes who will be representing Kalinga once sports suspension is lifted.

Sports Development Officer Napoleon Ayang-ang announced this through the radio program “Isangguni sa ating Gobernador” aired on Tuesday, June 15.

The fund, he said, is in the Annual Investment Plan. Funding includes the holding of the Provincial Meet and the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA).

The fund also covers the provincial sports program like the inter-agency, inter-office, and the allowance of athletes.

It can be recalled that the CARAA was previously postponed and was eventually cancelled last year following the declaration of a state of public health emergency due to the Covid-19 threat.

The suspension has not yet been lifted to ensure safety among athletes and the public.

The Sports Development Officer disclosed their office did not receive “circular from the education, more so the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) lifting the suspension of the sports competition.”

“Nu kaspangarigan a bigla nga ibaga da nga adda ti sports competition ket haan kayo madanagan ta sisasagana ti amin a mausar pati pondo. All is set, just waiting for the go signal of IATF,” Ayang-ang said.

Ayang-ang also encouraged athletes to find ways to keep practicing their skills and remain physically fit since some sports like taekwondo require weight maintenance.
