Tabuk City, Kalinga – The province of Kalinga garnered a total of 30 awards during the recently held Gawad Kalusugan 2025 in recognition of its outstanding performance in the implementation of health programs.

Held on October 29, 2025, at Hotel Elizabeth, Baguio City, the event was organized by the Department of Health–Cordillera Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD CAR) to honor local government units, hospitals, schools, and partner agencies across the region that demonstrated exemplary performance in health care delivery.

During the awarding ceremony, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer–Kalinga (OPHO) received five major awards for its strong implementation of programs on family planning, tuberculosis control, national immunization, nutrition, and HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

The municipal and city health offices of Balbalan, Pasil, Rizal, Tanudan, Tinglayan, and Tabuk City were likewise recognized for their exemplary health initiatives.

Also among the awardees were Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH), Juan M. Duyan Memorial Hospital, Kalinga–Gabriela Mija Kim Medical Center, and San Juan General Hospital, all honored for their continued commitment to improving health care services in the province.

Meanwhile, Bulo East Central School was recognized nationally as an Outstanding Learning Institution under the Healthy Schools category. Other awardees included the Philippine Red Cross Kalinga Chapter and DepEd–SDO Tabuk, among others.

Receiving the awards were Governor James S. Edduba, along with the heads, officers-in-charge, and representatives of the honored institutions.

During the provincial government’s flag-raising ceremony on November 3, where the awards were formally turned over to the recipients, Governor Edduba expressed deep appreciation for the collective effort that made the province’s achievement possible, reminding the awardees to continue their good work.

“Congratulations! Of course, these are all your accomplishments. Without your cooperation and support, these awards wouldn’t have been possible. Last week, we were there (during the awarding), and even if it was tiring to keep going up the stage, we were very proud because we brought home so many awards,” the governor said in mixed Ilocano and English.
