KALIPI receives P.5M livelihood assistance from Kalinga PLGU

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The provincial government recently granted P500,000 worth of local products to the Kalinga KALIPI Federation on Friday, January 28, as a start-up to sell and buy local products from low-income women in the province.

This livelihood assistance is funded under the Gender and Development (GAD) Program of the provincial government through the initiative of Governor Ferdinand Tubban. It aims to support and empower women by creating an avenue to augment their income, especially to women with low income in the province.

In an interview with Provincial Planning and Development Officer Flordeliza Moldero, she said that the local products given to KALIPI which are now displayed at their women's center located inside the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Kalinga compound in Bulanao serve as their investment to start selling and buying local products.

Moldero said that while the project would also be promoting Kalinga local products, it also serves to make it easier for the members to sell as they have now a business center to display their products.

“Dagidiyay da products ti kababaihan nga awan iti source of income na ket mai-display idiay women's center da tapnu mai-link da iti market-opportunity,” Moldero said.

She said that women in communities can now produce their own products such as soft broom, clay pot, processed food products, and beverages to be sold at their women's center.

Asked about who can buy their products, Moldero said they encourage government offices and those in the private sectors to buy tokens and gifts at the women's center as support to the women struggling to earn income, especially during this pandemic.

KALIPI President Jocelyn Pardito, in a separate interview, expressed her gratitude to the provincial government, saying that the project has provided them an opportunity to be able to market their products immediately.

“Nabayagen nga ara-paap mi daytoy tapnu dagidiay da products mi ket mai- market mi agad-agad ta adu gamin met ti local products mi ngem awan pang-marketan mi isunga agyaman kami ditoy pag-istartan mi a produkto nga inted iti PLGU ken daytoy met lang women center,” Pardito said.
