Tabuk City, Kalinga – Dr. Rey Aranca, the OIC Chief of Hospital of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, which has been one of the subjects of malicious posts made by anonymous individuals at the controversial ‘kalinga page’, encouraged the public to visit his office instead.
Aranca said that while netizens have more platforms to express their grievances, their complaints may not be properly addressed, suggesting that it is better for those who have concerns to see hospital officials in charge and get the correct information from them directly.
Some of the tirades shot at KPH, the core referral medical hospital in Kalinga, include issues of unsatisfied clients, complaints about the behavior of personnel, medicine running out of stock, and a long queue of patients, among others. There were also personal attacks made to discredit Aranca.
In an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, the Chief of Hospital reiterated that his office, which is located on the second floor of KPH, has always been open to hear the complaints and concerns of the patients and their family members.
“Very open kami met dita office ko. And then of course, dapat adda name diay icom-complain da, what time, and dagiay dadduma nga information kuma with regards to that kasi nu maala tayo dagita ket we can solve it. I can call the concerned personnel, and then after that, nu kailangan pay ti CCTV, we have a CCTV naman ditoy,” he said.
Aranca explained that when complaints and concerns are brought to his office, it will allow them to investigate the matter and come up with solutions, both immediate and long-term.
Aranca pointed to how they addressed the concern on the stock of medicines at KPH, which was said to quickly run out of stock as an example. To address the matter, Aranca cited that they forged a Memorandum of Agreement with private hospitals in the province, like the Almora General Hospital, the Holy Trinity Medical Clinic, San Juan General Hospital, and the Divine Healer Diagnostic and Diabetic Clinic, where they could get medicine.
“Ta nu awan ti agas ditoy, ti aramiden da lang ket to put ‘no stock’ idiay pharmacy and then mapan dan idiay [partner hospitals] en. Number one pay manen nga problema idiay ket adayo. So, another immediate action ket nag-assign kami iti JO nga isunan ti mapan mangala idiay naka-MOA-an mi nga hospital,” related the Chief of Hospital.
For this, Aranca encouraged the public to go to his office should they have any concerns or complaints at KPH, instead of posting them online for them to be investigated and addressed.
The doctor added that when the complaints are impossible to be settled at their level, it will be elevated to the Office of the Provincial Governor, which has a grievance committee that will look into the case.
