Claveria, Cagayan - The latest road accident in Claveria, Cagayan involves a 'kulong - kulong' and truck collision.
The incident transpired on Saturday, April 13, claiming the lives of two students identified as Edmar Cabuyadao, 20, and Lloyd Lagarico, 19.
In his interview with the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, PNP Claveria Chief Mario Maraggun said their investigations revealed that Edmar and Lloyd went on a barber shop that day and were heading back home using their 'kulong - kulong' when the fatal incident occured.
He was alleged to have been overspeeding and eventually lost control of the vehicle when they reached the curved part of the road along Barangay Culao.
The 'kulong - kulong' swerved to the opposite lane, hitting the oncoming Elf truck driven by Erwin Ilovino, 51, a resident of Sanchez Mira, Cagayan.
Due to the force of the collision, Edmar and Lloyd were thrown from their vehicle and sustained severe injuries. The responding authorities rushed them to a hospital, but they were both declared dead upon arrival by the attending physician.
Meanwhile, the truck driver is now in police custody for further investigation. He may face charges if the matter will not be settled.
