‘Let’s convert those uniforms into gold medals… the food into strength’ - Mayor Dasayon encourages Pinukpuk athletes to become Champions

Pinukpuk, Kalinga – Municipal Mayor Jimmy B. Dasayon, during the “Padatong Night” of the 2026 Kalinga Provincial Meet encouraged the student-athletes of his town to pursue victory and become champions, especially so that the Municipal LGU gave its best support to the delegation.

 

Dasayon also urged the partcipants to biggest sporting event in the province to give their best and strive for excellence.

 

Addressing the student-athletes, Dasayon emphasized that their uniforms and sports equipment are more than just gear—they are symbols of trust, responsibility, and opportunity. With hard work, discipline, and determination, he said the young athletes can turn these opportunities into victories not only for themselves but for the entire municipality.

 

“Idi dinamag ko iti coaches yo idi nag-distribute kami iti sports equipment, contender kayu kanu amin. So let’s convert those uniforms into gold medals… and those food provided into strength to win,” said the mayor, adding that if that is to happen they have to work hard, stay disciplined, and aim for first place in every game they join.

 

Mayor Dasayon further expressed his belief that the young talents have the potential to take the top spot and represent the municipality well in the competitions, and that there are athletes from the town who can certainly represent Kalinga to the regional games.

 

The Mayor’s message energized both the athletes and their coaches, reminding them that the local government fully supports their journey.

 

In an interview, Mayor Dasayon said it is his desire to make the students and the delegation of Pinukpuk feel that the LGU believes in their abilities and that he is doing what he can do serve them best.

 

“Isu garud ti kayat ko koma nga panunuten ti atleta mi ken dagiti coaches and teachers… lalaingen da, gaggageten da because the LGU is here to help. We are here and we have been doing what we can to level-up our performance,” said Dasayon.

 

In the same interview with the Mayor this January 14, he likewise admitted that it is a big challenge to host the Kalinga Provincial Meet 2026, but he took the challenge anyway because he knows that it is the best way to improve on many things and to show to others that Pinukpuk has some good things to offer.
