Lubuagan, Kalinga ― As an appreciation for their hard work in their respective communities, the Municipal Government of Lubuagan is set to distribute PhP3,000 each cash incentives to 99 barangay officials and employees from the Office of the President.

Municipal Treasurer Malaica Bongngat said the distribution will be simultaneously done with the activity of the members of the Barangay Peace-Keeping Action Teams to be held from March 29 to 30.

Among those who shall receive the incentives are Punong Barangays, Barangay Kagawads, Barangay Treasurers, Barangay Secretaries, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons.

Bongngat said recipients must present their Oath of Office before they can claim their incentives.

“Thankful da ta maap-appreciate ti work da as part of the barangay, in partnership with the national agencies and LGUs a mangipom-promote ti public service,” she expressed.

The giving of incentive is in line with Senate Bill 391 or the “Barangay Services Compensation Act,” previously known as Magna Carta for Barangays Act of 2019, which aims to provide barangay officials additional compensation similarly accorded to a regular government employee as well as other benefits to promote their welfare in return for the service they have rendered to their respective communities.

In a separate interview, Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus said the assistance may also serve as an appreciation to barangay leaders as they continue safeguarding the rights and welfare of the constituents amid the ongoing pandemic.

“The distribution is timely given, knowing our current situation in this time of pandemic. Nakita tayo met ti sacrifices dagiti barangay officials tayo since day one - karkaru idi kasagsagan ti ECQ. They were the ones who spearheaded the manning of checkpoints, day and night.”
