Lubuagan LGU helps distressed constituents trapped in Cagayan flooding

Poblacion, Lubuagan – The municipal government of Lubuagan recently rescued and assisted iLubuagens that are residents of Tuguegarao City during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.


Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus said that the LGU’s assistance does not end there as more iLubuagens are in need of help trying to cope up with the aftermath of the typhoon; hence, the MLGU consolidated all number of families in need who are residing there.


Dickpus said it took awhile for the consolidation to be finalized, informing that the numbers in the inventory do not only include people from Lubuagan but others who are in need of help.


“Haan nga taga-Lubuagan amin dagiyay (ta) adda dagiti kasinsin kada kaaruban dagiyay taga-Lubuagan nga adda idjay Tuguegarao isunga kuna mi nganu agpatulong da ket tulungan tayo met isuda,” she expressed.


After finalizing the consolidation, the MLGU conducted a two-day relief operation scheduled Friday (20 November 2020) and Sunday (22 November2020).


Carrying with them 220 family food packs worth 110K funded by the LGU, the Lubuagan Relief Operation Team travelled to reach residences of the recipients located in the different barangays of the various municipalities of Cagayan Valley including the city of Tuguegarao.


72 YLubuagen families, 29 families (constituents) of Tuguegarao, and 19 families from other Municipalities of Kalinga and the City of Tabuk were served.


These families are residents of Barangays Tabbac and Villa Gracia in Buguey; Barangay Alimanao in Peñablanca; Barangay Alucao in Santa Teresita; Barangays Carilucud and Sampaguita in Solana; Barangays Annafunan, Atulayan, Bagay, Buntun, Cataggaman, Centro 6 and 11, Gosi, Libag Norte and Sur, Linao, Pengue, Tagga, Ugac Norte and Sur in Tuguegarao City; and others residing in Allacapan, Baggao, Enrile and Lasam.


The Relief Operation Team composed of personnel from the Office of the Municipal Mayor, Lubuagan Municipal Police Station (MPS), 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (KPMFC) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Lubuagan.


According to Municipal Information Officer Ansherina Rose Odiem, there were one hundred twenty (120) typhoon-affected families with four hundred eighty-two (482) individuals who received family food packs each containing 5 kilos rice, 3 cans sardines, 3 cans corned beef, 6 sachets 3-in-1 coffee, 6 sachets energy drink and 7 liters mineral water.


“Agtitinnulong tayo karkaru kadagitoy nga pasamak. Awan sabali nu saan nga datayo nga agkakaarruba, agkakapamilya ken agkakailyan ti agtitinnulong,” the mayor said.


Meanwhile, these recipients were grateful for receiving their relief packs and have been sending their ‘thank you’ messages to the municipality.


“My sincere thanks to the LGU of Lubuagan for personally delivering relief goods to the flood victims (of)Cagayan. We appreciate it and may the Lord God bless you…,” said one recipient.


“Chake uniyaman mi si sipupuso un tulong yu kancha kami (un) relief goods (Big thanks for wholeheartedly sending us relief goods). God bless LGU Lubuagan,” said another.


Mayor Dickpus acknowledged their appreciation expressing that the LGU will always stand with fellow Ykalingas under any circumstances.


“Our purpose to reach out to them - even with few relief packs given - is to show and let them feel that the LGU is one with them in these trying times. Isu metlang ti ibagbaga dagiti dinanun tayo nga na-relieve dagiti rikna da nga mangkita nga adda dagiti kailyan nga apan kanyada,” she expressed.
