Man found dead, floating in Cagayan River; Authorities ask public to help determine victim’s identity

Amulung, Cagayan — Authorities in Cagayan discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man floating in the Cagayan River, particularly in Barangay Dugayung, Piat, on the morning of Wednesday, November 5, 2025, prompting an investigation to determine his identity and the cause of death.


According to Cecile Domingo, station manager of the Task Force Lingkod Cagayan–Quick Response Team, via Cagayan PIO, their office received a report from barangay officials about a body seen floating in the river, to which the team immediately responded.


The victim, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, was found wearing only undergarments at the time of discovery.


At around 10:59 a.m., the body was retrieved by the task force, with assistance from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO)–Amulung and the local police.


Authorities are appealing to the public for help in identifying the victim and urge anyone with missing relatives to contact the Amulung Police Station or other local authorities.


The remains are currently at St. Clare Funeral Services in Baggao, Cagayan.
