Man in Isabela who ran amok stabs Police Officer, gets shot in return

Cauayan City, Isabela – An attempt to pacify a man who went berserk ended in tragedy in Isabela, leaving two people dead—one of them a police officer assigned to the Cauayan City Police Station.

At around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, Police Corporal Jay-ar Galabay, a resident of Reina Mercedes, Isabela, had just finished providing covert security for the Miss Tourism Philippines 2025 Coronation Night. He was on his way home when he encountered Jomark Molina.

According to Cauayan Police Chief PLtCol. Avelino Canceran Jr., in an interview with iFM Cauayan, Molina was reportedly running amok in Barangay Cabaruan, Cauayan City, prompting Galabay to approach and try to pacify him.

However, instead of calming down, Molina attacked and stabbed Galabay, forcing the latter to shoot him multiple times.

Both men were rushed to the hospital by responding authorities but were declared dead on arrival.

An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
