Man in Pinukpuk found dead with electric fishing equipment

Pinukpuk, Kalinga – A man in Pinukpuk who went fishing with his improvised electric fishing equipment was found dead on October 13 along the Saltan River.


According to Pinukpuk Chief of Police, Police Major Julio Nalliw, a certain Ferdinand Balbi, 47, and resident of Denglo, Taga, went fishing on October 12. Initial investigation reveals that Balbi always goes fishing in the said river, after work.


However, he did not go home on the night of October 12.


The following day, at around 3:00 in the afternoon, a lifeless body was discovered by a farmer along the Saltan River in Sitio Palling, Taga, while he was on his way to his cornfield.


After being notified about the incident, the police with the Bureau of Fire Protection – Pinukpuk proceeded to the area and identified the lifeless body as that of Balbi.

The responding personnel brought the body to the Rural Health Unit, where it was found out that he died of electrocution.

Balbi’s body was brought home to his family.
