Over P.7M shabu seized from man who killed nephew in Cagayan

Gattaran, Cagayan - A 47-year-old man will not just face murder charges but also a violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after he was caught in possession of shabu on Friday, August 4.


Hidden by the name ‘Aljohn’, the suspect was accused of shooting his nephew to death on Thursday, August 2, in Casicalan Norte, Gattaran.

Police investigation revealed the two argued for an unknown reason which resulted in the suspect’s shooting of ‘Alyas Eddie’, 36, a resident in the aforementioned area.


Accordingly, the killing was even witnessed by the victim’s son.


Police, who were notified of the crime, immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation. The suspect tried to escape but was eventually captured by Gattaran police.


During his arrest, 111 grams of shabu amounting to P783,300 was seized from him, along with an improvised caliber 22 rifle with 58 bullets.


Likewise, a caliber 45 containing three bullets which may be the weapon used in carrying out the crime was taken from the suspect.


At present, he is under police custody, particularly at the Gattaran Police Station pending the filing of charges.
