Cagayan, Philippines – Man accused of killing two cops in Bulacan died after exchanging fire with police officers serving his warrant of arrest in Baggao, Cagayan on June 4, 2025.

The casualty hidden under the name ‘Xander’ was charged with murder in the deadly shootout that took the lives of PSSg. Dennis Cudiamat and PSSg. Gian George Dela Cruz in Bocaue, Bulacan on March 8, 2025.

These two police officers were among the operatives who launched a buy-bust operation against an individual suspected of selling illegal firearms.

During the operation, the suspect was successfully arrested by the intelligence officers, however, Cudimat and Dela Cruz had to pursue the suspect’s accomplice who was armed.

Said fleeing man opened fired which killed Cudimat first before shooting Dela Cruz who continued chasing him. The suspect escaped with the service firearms of the two cops.

After more than two months since the incident, different units in the Cagayan and the Bocaue Police Station served the warrant of arrest to Xander. The suspect, however, allegedly refused arrest and pulled out a gun and fired at the operatives.

The Police Regional Office 2 further quoted the man saying “di ako papahuli nang buhay”. His actions prompted the police to return fire which resulted into Xander’s neutralization.

Police recovered a unit of Glock firearm believed to be the service firearm of one of the two fallen operatives in Bulacan.

“Ang pagkamatay ng suspek sa madugong insidente sa Bocaue ay isang malinaw na mensahe na ang rehiyon ng Lambak ng Cagayan ay hindi ligtas na taguan ng mga kriminal. Higit sa lahat, ito ay tagumpay ng hustisya para kina PSSg Cudiamat at PSSg Dela Cruz, at sa kanilang mga pamilyang naiwan,” Cagayan Valley Police Regional Director, PBGen. Antonio Marallag Jr. was quoted in a statement.
