Mayor Dickpus campaigns for ‘healthy environment’ in CAR

Lubuagan, Kalinga - Lubuagan Municipal Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus, a staunch advocate for environment and culture preservation, aspires for a healthy environment in the region to boost the region’s abundant food and rich natural resources. In a message on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Dickpus commended the resiliency of the Cordillerans for the year and a half that the pandemic had greatly impacted the socio-economic situation of the people, with the change in their daily activities, the restrictions, affecting the livelihood and business of the people to the extent that some even lost their jobs. “Nu man pay kasta, ti umili ti Cordillera ket nag-adoptar ken inawat da dagitoy a pannubok tapno maadal da ken agballigi da kadagiti trabaho ken responsibilidad a naited kanyada,” the mayor said.

Dickpus underscored that despite the difficulties, the Cordillerans pushed through and everyone yearned and worked to recover from the setback brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. As a region, Dickpus expressed hope that despite obstacles, the Cordillerans will still hold on to stepping up their effort, and as one, would put into action their aspiration to become an autonomous region.

With the theme ‘Working Together Towards Cordillera Autonomy through Green Recovery,’ she then underscored the need for the people to safeguard their God-given resources as they seek for autonomy. “Daytoy panangilaban tayo ti nasalun-at nga aglawlaw, isu ti mangtulong kanyatayo nga agtalinaed nga bastante” the mayor said.

“Iti garud panangiduron tayo ti otonomiya, ikadwa tayo nga i-implementar ti panaka-aywan ti natural resources ti rehiyon tayo. Agkukuyog tayon garud a mangi-tag-ay iti Cordillera manipud Abra, Apayao, Baguio City, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, ken Mt. Province,” Mayor Dickpus concluded.
