Mayor Gumilab lauds JO’s role in delivery of gov’t services

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Mayor Sacrament Gumilab commended the efforts of the 291 Job Order employees of the Municipal Government of Tinglayan for their contribution in the successful implementations of the administration’s programs and projects.

In a meeting held Wednesday, April 21, 2021, Gumilab told the employees that the delivery of services could not have been made possible if it were not for them, the individuals who exerted efforts in executing their assigned tasks.

“One of the purposes why we gather today is because we want to take this opportunity to show and tell you how vital your roles are, that if you do your functions well, we can perform all needed actions and support all government programs being implemented in our municipality,” the mayor said.

"If you love working here in the government despite the low wage, we welcome you and give you our sincerest gratitude. The municipality of Tinglayan cannot progress without you,” he added.

For JOs who only wanted to work in the government for money, the mayor said they should reflect, since that should not be the reason why they come to work as public servants.

“If your purpose is not in line with the vision of the municipal government, then you should think twice because in government, our aim is to serve the public for they are our clients and if you’re not passionate with your work, you cannot really serve them fully,” he told them.

"Working should not be based on how much one's wage is, but depends on doing what you love. If you love what you do, success will follow you,” the mayor added.

As an advise to the JOs, the mayor told them not to be grouchy, but rather serve the people with patience as according to him, public servants could not refuse the people as they are on the field of public service.

To enter into permanent position in the government, Gumilab encouraged the employees to earn experience from such opportunities since this, he explained, is a requirement in acquiring positions in government.

The municipal government, he disclosed, shall be opening items for permanent position in 2022.

“As the Municipal building gets bigger, more employees can now be accommodated,” he said.
