Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Trade and Industry of Kalinga, in partnership with the Rizal municipal government, awarded on Tuesday, October 18 livelihood kits to the 25 micro-entrepreneurs.

The move was aimed at helping small businesses in restoring and improving their operations.

The provision of kits, given in the form of individual packages, is under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) and the Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) programs of the agency.

The PPG, according to the DTI provincial department, is a livelihood seeding and entrepreneurship development program which aims to assist individuals and families affected by fire incidents and other calamities, including the COVID-19 pandemic to recover and/or start their businesses.

Meanwhile, LSP-NSB allows a wider reach of business development assistance, especially to far-flung communities by bringing government services closer to the people through partnerships among national government agencies, the barangay local government units, and the private sectors.

Most of the recipients in Rizal, Kalinga are engaged in food processing, three are in carpentry service, four in food service, another three in furniture manufacturing, two in trading, and one in hairdressing service.

Kits distributed to the beneficiaries vary from their needs and demand.

Mayor Karl Bugao P. Baac, along with Municipal Administrator Elyn Domondon, expressed gratitude to DTI-Kalinga for their continued support of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in their town.
