Miss Tuguegarao 2023 represents Cagayan Valley in Miss Universe PH 2024

Cagayan, Philippines – Miss Tuguegarao 2023, Zhyra Mae Cabalza, is set to compete for the coveted title of Miss Universe Philippines 2024, aspiring to succeed the reigning queen, Michelle Dee.

Crowned on August 15, 2023, Cabalza, 20, from Barangay Capatan, is gearing up to face tough competition from exceptional candidates nationwide.

In a statement made in December, she emphasized the gravity of her decision to join the national search.

"If I decide to commit 100% to this journey, I will wholeheartedly dedicate myself to uniting local designers in our city, extending my network to include LOUISIAN designers," she expressed.

Acknowledging areas for personal growth, both physically and mentally, Zhyra believes the experience and opportunity are paramount in her pursuit of the title.

Last year, the Miss Universe Philippines organization unveiled their Accredited Partners Program for upcoming editions. Accredited partners will choose candidates through local pageants in their respective areas, with only the winners advancing to the national level. The organization recently announced the schedule for local coronation nights across the country.

As of writing, among the 2024 official candidates are Janah Rhyl Lumidao (Baguio), Natasha Jane Bajuyo (Bukidnon), Angel Rose Tambal (Leyte), Natasha Jung (Kananga, Leyte), Zoleil Mellane Taño (Occidental Mindoro), Raven Doctor (Palawan), Rethiana Rosa (Camiguin), Kymberlee Street (Australia), and Kim Irish Placibe (Toledo, Cebu).

The national coronation date is yet to be announced.

A noteworthy change for the Miss Universe 2024 pageant is the removal of age restrictions for candidates. In its 2023 edition, the search allowed mothers and wives to join the competition.

As the anticipation builds, the pageant promises to be a showcase of diversity and empowerment.
