Tabuk City, Kalinga – During the groundbreaking ceremony of the P25 million worth Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Resilience Management Council (RDRRMC) Warehouse and Logistics Hub, Governor Ferdinand Tubban underscored its importance in times of calamities and disasters.

Tubban said with the construction of the warehouse and logistics hub at the Capitol Compound, more lives can be saved during calamities and disasters.

The governor added that the warehouse will also help reduce prolonged suffering of victims and affected families, “as the strategic location of Kalinga as another DRRMC hub supplies in the region being sandwiched among other provinces shall facilitate faster delivery of needed services and help.”

Upon completion of the warehouse and logistics hub, emergency supplies can now be transported faster in Kalinga, Apayao, parts of Ifugao, and Mt. Province.

“When road closures, due to landslides and flooding hamper or pose risks to the transport of aid from Baguio to the farther areas of the Cordilleras, Kalinga could play an important role as the first responders,” Tubban stressed.

The governor expressed gratitude to the Regional Director of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and Chairperson of the Cordillera RDRRMC Albert Mogol, who turned the proposal into reality.

Tubban recalled the “turn over ceremony of the regional evacuation center in the city when Mogol insinuated of having the DRMMC regional warehouse.”

With Mogol supporting the proposal, Tubban immediately offered the adjacent lot of the evacuation center as a donation.

Mogol then started working and processing necessary documents and other requirements for the warehouse and logistics hub.

The construction now commences after the groundbreaking ceremony on August 27, 2021, and is set to be completed within 6 months as per the project.
