No case of death in Kalinga during typhoon Egay’s onslaught

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Despite the damages caused by Super Typhoon “Egay” in Kalinga and neighboring provinces, particularly in agriculture, the provincial government of Kalinga announced there are no reported casualties in the province.


The Kalinga Provincial Command Center made the announcement Thursday, July 27.


Led by Governor James S. Edduba, the provincial government expressed deep gratitude for this great outcome, emphasizing that this is a result of the unwavering effort of various agencies and organizations involved in disaster response and preparedness.

The Command Center, meantime, reported there are 20 barangays affected by the typhoon consisting of 118 families or 516 individuals based on the initial reports forwarded by 4 municipalities of Kalinga and Tabuk City.


Three municipalities are yet to submit their assessment reports.


During the onslaught of the typhoon, a total of 13 individuals in the province were reportedly rescued, of which, 12 of them are from Tabuk City and 1 is from Sucbot, Pinukpuk.


These include the 4 construction workers and a farmer trapped along the Chico River.


At present, authorities are now monitoring the situation while rescue teams work on addressing potential risks and providing assistance to affected communities.


Meanwhile, a report on damages to crops will be announced by the Provincial Agriculture Office once an assessment is done.
